24-6-2008
AMSTERDAM - The Dutch band The Palookas has signed a record deal with Megalith Records. Their Live CD 'Better Live Than never', which was released in the Netherlands by Boombax Music in June 2007, will now be released at the American Megalith label in Europe and North America.Megalith Records is the label of Robert Hingley, better known as “Bucket” - frontman of American ska band The Toasters. The label represents many well-known, international ska bands like the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, the Hungarian band Pannonnia Allstar Ska Orchestra, Victor Rice and The Toasters.
The album will be out in record stores across Europe. There will also be a digital release for North America by making the album available on several big download services like iTunes.
The Palookas are really satisfied with the record deal. "We are really glad we signed with Megalith records and they put so much effort and trust in our band. Our music fits perfectly on Megalith!" Which is confirmed by Bucket: “Better Live Than Never” is a manic selection of fun-crazed tracks delivered by the most energetic ska band in the Netherlands”.
The album will be released in June 2008, and an album presentation will be at July 11th in Germany, at the Potsdammer Ska Festival, one of the leading international ska festivals of Europe. The band is planning a European tour to promote the CD later this year.
At the moment the band is writing new songs for a follow-up and they are aiming at a lot of festivals and venues for the summer of 2009.
